There’s a new Android tablet coming out in the big wide tablet space from Motorola and is the world’s first enterprise slate and is called the Motorola ET1 tablet and is a rugged slate with specified features to differentiate the business orientated tablet from consumer Android slates.

According to an article over on Money Web, the Motorola ET1 tablet will run the Android operating system albeit not stating which Android OS, that will enable multiple logins which will ensure several staff will have access to certain information.

The Motorola ET1 will sport a 7-inch Gorilla Glass display along with 1GB on-board memory, a USB port and initially be a WiFi only tablet although a 3G version will come at a later date, other than that no other specs on the device have been given.

According to the distribution and partner’s manager for enterprise business at Motorola, Max Stone, the Motorola ET1 has been designed for the knowledgeable worker, someone that requires access to multiple apps whilst making enhanced decisions.

Apparently Motorola has been working with numerous independent software vendors for developing apps for enterprises including item locators, mobile point of sale and assisted selling.

Mark Kelly, the MD of Motorola South Africa says that the launch of the Motorola ET1 is part of their initiative to “expand in Africa,” so one can presume that the ET^1 is launching in South Africa although it isn’t clear if the Android slate will launch anywhere else.

As for the price of the Motorola ET1 enterprise tablet the device will retail for a rather hefty $1535, which is approximately R12280.
